Lundy is a magical place and many fall under its spell, returning year after year to visit favourite haunts and experience the unspoilt pleasures Lundy affords. Most people come simply to enjoy the Island, a place apart from the modern world. Many of those who visit are keen to help the Islanders preserve this unique environment and for this reason we formed the Friends of Lundy. The Friends' membership income is spent on protecting and conserving Lundy's natural beauty and in return, Friends receive, among other benefits, an annual newsletter giving details of life on the Island, its flora and fauna. It is the best way of staying in touch with Lundy between visits!
Help Protect Lundy
These days Lundy's appeal is as a retreat from modern life. It is also a place for those with special interests: birdwatchers, divers, climbers, plant enthusiasts, archaeologists and geologists. The Islanders work hard to protect and preserve this special place for others to enjoy. However, we still find that there are a large number of projects we would like to undertake which we simply cannot afford to do even though all income is reinvested in the Island. These range from improving public access, rebuilding walls and repairing footpaths, to building a new wind generator, and helping to fund an Assistant Warden, to enhance visitors' understanding and enjoyment of Lundy. We rely on Friends' support to help us. Many people have, through their love of Lundy, helped shape its history. Now you too can help ensure that this unique Island has a secure future by joining the Friends of Lundy.
As well as helping to protect the future of Lundy Island membership of the Friends of Lundy also offers you the following benefits.
£5 discount on adult boat fare and £2.50 on child boat fare for family members each time you travel, on production of your membership card.
An annual newsletter giving news from Lundy.
10% discount on Lundy accommodation bookings when booked within 14 days of the departure date
