These
days Lundy's appeal is as a retreat from modern life. It is also a place
for those with special interests: birdwatchers, divers, climbers, plant
enthusiasts, archaeologists and geologists. The Islanders work hard to protect
and preserve this special place for others to enjoy. However, we still find
that there are a large number of projects we would like to undertake which
we simply cannot afford to do even though all income is reinvested in the
Island. These range from improving public access, rebuilding walls and repairing
footpaths, to building a new wind generator, and helping to fund an Assistant
Warden, to enhance visitors' understanding and enjoyment of Lundy. We rely
on Friends' support to help us. Many people have, through their love of
Lundy, helped shape its history. Now you too can help ensure that this unique
Island has a secure future by joining the Friends of Lundy. |
